Melanie Mitchell

The woman...

Melanie is a native Houstonian, and has shared the love and faithfulness of Christ through songs of praise since the age of nine. As she ministers in song, Melanie hopes she can help others understand that there is victory in praise. "It is when we praise and worship God that chains are broken, healing begins, hearts are mended and deliverance takes place in the life of the worshiper." This statement would prove to be true as she endured a season of difficulty and grief during the year of 2004. This unexpected life changing event left her devastated, broken, confused, and hurt.... But God proved to her that He was her constant companion and He gave her the strength she needed to walk through her pain and grief. Melanie is the proud mother of 5 children, Kayla (her husband, Pastor Dechard Freeman of Abundant Life Church in Austin, TX), Ashlee, Brittany, Lawrence (his wife, Tiphanie) and Laureal. She is affectionately known as MeMe to her nine amazing grand children, sister to not only her siblings but those in her church community, mentor, confidant and friend to all that have crossed paths with her.

Melanie has served as a member and ministry leader in her current church home, The Fountain of Praise, under the leadership of      Dr. Remus and Co-Pastor Mia Wright.  She currently serves on the Adoration and Praise Team and within The Calling Ministry. She has shared her gifts of teaching and singing with many churches in conferences and worship workshops around the city. While Melanie has faithfully served in her church for many years, she has also made servant-hood a lifestyle outside of her church environment. This includes her initiatives at work, and the countless lives God has allowed her to impact on a regular basis. Melanie is not only a worshiper in song, but she is a servant in heart. The Lord has used her in many realms to bring His name glory and with each opportunity she is reminded of the great calling and purpose God has on her life.

The purpose...

Whether her ministry be used for worship service, or speaking to a group; her love for the Lord shines through in all that she does. Melanie is indeed a slave to the Holy Ghost, and she declares, " I owe Him a praise, a shout and a Hallelujah." Things are better in His presence, and there is no place she would rather be. It is her complete delight and calling to bring others in that presence with Him as well. Her true purpose has been realized through singing in the spirit, the raising of her hands, the sincerity of her praise and worship, and the passion within her heart. Melanie Mitchell is purposed to be used by the Lord. She is a willing vessel just open to be used by God. Currently she is working on a CD project and her goal through this is to teach God's people the importance of praise and worship and remind them of God's faithfulness. God has greatness in store for Melanie and she can't wait to share how God has that same Greatness in store for you.

When we asked Melanie what walking in freedom meant to her, she responded...

"Walking in freedom is like being able to breathe the right way! It's like God just gave you a new pair of lungs to inhale a fresh breath!"
